Alexander Waintraub - Clients Advisory Board Member

Alex Waintraub is a cyber security professional with 10 years of experience in IT, security operations, and Incident Response. He possesses in-depth knowledge of security analytics, incident response, leadership qualities, and the ability to work with small-or large-scale cyber security incidents. Over the last 5 years, he has been managing or leading operations while triaging, validating and ultimately defining escalations for various security incidents. He has enhanced various security operation centers, incident response plans, cyber threat hunting teams and threat intelligence operations with their response, containment, and remediation methods. Alex employs a strong mix of technical, business, and strategy acumen to direct response to cyber security incidents.

He is currently a VP of Incident Response for BNY Mellon. Alex was previously the Lead Cyber Operations Analyst at Barclays Investment Bank where he worked as part of a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of cybersecurity operations and privacy response services to the global retail and commercial enterprise. He led and trained the SOC leads and analysts on alert triage and analysis of security incidents. Prior to that he was a senior cyber threat & incident responder at BlueVoyant where he was supervising operations with identifying, monitoring, investigating, and analyzing computer network intrusions and served as a technical escalation point and mentor for junior analysts.

Alex graduated in 2013 from NYIT with his bachelor’s in information technology & Network Security. He also is an active part of the cybersecurity community; working hard to help start ups gain visibility and tractions in the industry through cyber security meetups. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his wife and 3 daughters, catch up on new Emotet variants, or build new threat hunting queries.
