The Brno University Hospital in the city of Brno, the Czech Republic suffered a cyber attack during a COVID-19 outbreak. Hospital officials have not disclosed the nature of the security failure; however, according to local media reports, the attack was deemed sufficient to delay emergency surgery and transfer new acute patients to the nearby St. Anne University Hospital.
The tool was placed when more than 140 cases of infection were confirmed in the country and the number of quarantines was about 4,800. The government has declared a state of emergency and has strict controls on transit. Short information about the incident has been disclosed, which occurred around 2 a.m. local time on Friday, local time. Its nature is still unknown, but it is not surprising if it is a ransomware attack.
As a result of the strike, the COVID-19 test results have been put on hold in the past few days. It usually takes a day to get results. According to the Czech News Agency, the PC equipment had begun to fall gradually and must be shut down. The staff was instructed not to turn on the computer.
