Airbus and Cisco Collaborate over Cybersecurity

Airbus and Cisco have come together with the signing of a new global partnership deal which will lead to collaborating and developing new products and systems.

A global partnership between Airbus Defense & Space and Cisco sees the two companies combine their complementary technology strengths in the defense, security and satellite communication industries will focus on developing products and systems in software-defined networking (SDN), cybersecurity, mobility, cloud, data intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT).

“This relationship is a significant step forward for both companies,” said Eric Souleres, Head of Engineering, Operations and Quality of the Communications, Intelligence and Security (CIS) unit within Airbus Defense and Space.

“By utilizing both companies’ technology and expertise we will be able to develop and offer superior and ground-breaking products and solutions to our customers, and strengthen our respective strategies as system integrator and IT leader,” he added.

Cisco is geared to provide Airbus with networking, design and engineering expertise, along with networking equipment and infrastructure. The two companies already have a relationship which will further be strengthened by the partnership in the new deal that will bring together Airbus’ industry expertise and solutions that will be combined with Cisco’s IT, networking and communication products.

As part of the agreement, Airbus becomes a Cisco Global Specialty Integrator and will have the access and means to embed Cisco technologies into its own systems and solutions. Airbus will also partner with Cisco globally and resell selected network technology as well as collaborate in the development of new solutions, together.
